K.M. Fathers
CWO Fathers was born in Windsor, ON in February 1959. He enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Lineman 052 on 11 September 1979. Following his Basic Training at CFB Cornwallis, NS, he was transferred to Canadian Forces Base Borden, ON for Driver Training and subsequently to Canadian Forces Base Kingston, ON for his QL-3 Lineman Training.
The first of many postings was in 1980 to the Special Service Force Headquarters and Signal Squadron located at Canadian Forces Base Petawawa, ON. In December 1982, he was promoted to Cpl and posted to 702 Communication Squadron, also located in Petawawa, ON. Promoted to MCpl in 1986, he was posted back to Special Service Force Headquarters and Signal Squadron, performing the duties of a Line Detachment Commander.
CWO Fathers was posted to 743 Communication Squadron Canadian Forces Base Penhold, AB in the summer of 1988, as the Line Construction Foreman. In July 1993, he was posted to 706 Communication Squadron at Canadian Forces Base Borden, ON where he remained until being promoted to Sgt in July 1994, and subsequently posted to 1 Line Troop, Canadian Forces Base Kingston, ON where he performed the duties of a Project Foreman. In September 1997, he was posted to 1 Line Squadron, 79 Communication Regt located at Kingston, ON and was promoted in 1998 to Warrant Officer, performing the duties of a Project Coordinator.
In 1999, CWO Fathers was posted to 1 Canadian Division Headquarters and Signal Regt as the “Charlie Troop” Warrant Officer. In April 2001, he was promoted to Master Warrant Officer and assumed the duties of the 1 Canadian Division Headquarters and Signal Regiment Line Communication Superintendent. In May 2001, he was posted to 1 Line Squadron, Canadian Forces Joint Signal Regiment, performing the duties of the Operations & Training, Quality Assurance, and Line Theatre Activation Team Project Officer.
CWO Fathers was transferred in September 2003 to NDHQ Ottawa, ON to the Director of Land Requirements (DLR) and appointed to the duties as the Assistant Army G6 Line Communication Superintendent. In November 2005 this position was moved to the Director of Land Communication and Information (DLCI). On the 9th of June 06, CWO Fathers was promoted to his present rank and assumed the duties and responsibilities as the Army G6 Line Communication Superintendent (LCS).
Throughout CWO Fathers career, he has served on operational deployments to Iraq, twice to the Golan Heights, Bosnia, Germany, three times to Alert, and twice to Afghanistan.
CWO Fathers is married to his lovely wife Christa, from Collingwood ON, and they have two children, Adam and Holly.
