It is with great sadness that the family of Corporal Kenneth Chad O'Quinn announces his death while serving in Afghanistan on March 3rd, 2009. Born January 25th, 1984 in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL, he was the son of Kenneth and Rhonda (Decker) O'Quinn of Rusagonis, NB and fiancé to Naomi Holder of Ottawa, ON.

Chad was a great individual who took tremendous pride in being a member of the Canadian Forces. A loving son, Chad cherished his family. Throughout his two tours in Afghanistan, he telephoned, e-mailed and messaged his family each and every day. He highly valued his faith, his health and loved ones. He challenged life and encouraged others to do the same.

A member of the Signals Branch, he was a dedicated soldier who believed in the value of his contribution to the mission in Afghanistan.

Chad is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Rhonda; his fiancée, Naomi; his brother and best friend, Adam O'Quinn (Myriah) and their daughter, Alexis of Rusagonis, NB; maternal grandmother, Dorcas Jane (Jean) Decker of Centreville, NL; paternal grandparents, Alex and Rosaline of South Branch, NL as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins and his beloved pitbull, Onyx. Chad is predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Alfred Decker.

Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Friday, March 13th, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14th, 2009 at St. Luke's Chapel, CFB Gagetown with Padre Darryl Levy and Rev. Bruce McKenna officiating.
