GRANT, Robert Stewart - P. Eng. March 22, 1920 - March 21, 2009 MBE - Member of the British Empire, MID - Mentioned in Dispatches, Major (retired) Royal Canadian Corps of Signals 1939 - 1957. Amateur Radio Operator, 1936 - VE4GS European Campaign: 1942 - 45. Commanded Wireless Intercept and Intelligence Unit - 2 CDN. Signals Corps. B.Sc. (Electrical Engineer) - Queen's 1949. Canadian Army - Signals 1949 - 57. Started CKCL Radio Station , Kingston - 1952 National Research Council, Canadian Security Establishment, and Department of National Defence (Director General of Technology) 1957 - 1975. CSIS and Broadcast consultant - 1975 - 1990 Ham Operator VE3LBJ Loving husband of Muriel Gladys nee Johnstone (Skelwith Bridge, England) and greatly missed by sons, Gordon (Calgary) , Marshall (Calgary), Barry (Manotick) and daughter Janice (England). Also missed by daughters-in-law Rene and Pat and loving Grandad to Shauna, Kaitlin, Tyler, Cameron and Rachel. An accomplished man who had a passion for building (his home at Henley St. and the cottage at Barry's Bay), technology and his family. Family and friends will be invited to celebrate Bob's life on May 9th at Manotick Legion from 1400hrs to 1700hrs. In Bob's memory donations may be made to the CDS Military Families Fund.
