Warrant Officer J. Edward Bond (Retired) 224 Comm Tech
BOND, J. Edward WO RETIRED, CD & CLASP, SSM (NATO) Peacefully in Ottawa after a 10 year battle with Prostate Cancer, on Wednesday, August 26 at the age of 74. Born in Dartmouth, NS. Leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years, Hilda (Hollinger) of Atwater, SK, son Jeb & wife Lisa Kelly, daughter Della (Deb) & husband, Manuel Morgado, and one very loving granddaughter, Larissa Morgado. His love for Hilda had no boundaries and grew as they grew together. Ed was very proud of the accomplishments of his children, their spouses and was especially proud of little Larissa. Predeceased by his parents Edward and Catherine Bond, and sisters Cecilia & Bernice. Leaving behind brothers Leonard, Wilfred and Bernard, sisters Anita, Catherine, Marie, Lillian and Gloria. Also missed by in-laws, many nephews and nieces, and many very good friends. Employed by Dominion Stores & T. Eaton in Dartmouth, before joining the RCAF in 1953. Served at St Jean, QC, Clinton, ON, Cold Lake, AB, #3 Fighter Wing, Germany, Vancouver, BC. Portage La Prairie, MB, Inuvik, NT, ending his military career in Ottawa in 1979. Later employed with the RCMP and DND. Golfing and curling were among his favourite hobbies. He was a member of Hylands Golf Club and spent winters golfing in Florida. A Celebration of Ed's Life will be held at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre of Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, 613-741-9530, on Sunday, August 30 from 3 to 7 p.m., with a private interment at a later date at the National Military Cemetery.
